Disney Quest Part 3: Afterthoughts

Hey folks, here's the final Disney Quest video and it's my thoughts of the place and some of the games I played. I'm going to do two final videos with my thoughts of all of the Disney parks and also of the games I played while I was on vacation.

I know a lot of this video came off as a blast against Global VR's games, but that's just how I feel. You can't compare games like Twisted Stunt Racing, Justice League Heroes United and Star Wars Episode 1 Star Fighter to games that are 20 years older and play more fun.

According to the Disney Quest website an adult pass is 43 dollars. For that price I want everything to work and not for them to cut out the video of the Genie from Aladdin on the elevator.

  1. @Nick - as one of the executives that originated and developed DQ concept you seem to be on the money regarding what is wrong and right with DQ. I would say - while GW has died DQ survived!

I worked on the plan that did not have the whole site as a free play, but the corporate heads knew better when it came to roll out. The whole Chicago DQ failure is more than just a simple failure of price - but it would take a longer comment to cover the bases.

Regarding your comments on GlobalVR - as a previous client of KWP I can not go into too much detail, but as the R&D team came from a consumer game background they were out of their 'league' when it came to game design.

Would love to talk via skype or email on the DQ issues and looking towards the future of the new amusement sites.

  2. ...I am concerned that many people talk about DQ without knowledge of the history - and appreciate that you took the time in your rant to go into the back story.

It was my honor and privilege to work along with the innovative team at WDI and undertake the challenges that allowed me to go on to work for projects with the other major LBE operations.

I just hope we get to see another concept with this scope in the sector soon.

  3. It's sad seeing it the way it is now to what it was when it first opened. Now everything is held together with scotch tape and Popsicle sticks. One of the Mighty Ducks games had electrical tape over it keeping it together. I almost stopped midway playing Aladdin. The visor just stunk and the nose rest was sweaty and nasty. They never added in anything new, it's just there. After playing Aladdin I didn't want to play the rest of the "exclusive" games seeing how well they kept it.

As a gamer when I see something is made by Global VR, or Tsunami, I'll just avoid it. NASCAR looks worse then Daytona USA and my local Dave and Busters has an Air Raid Multiplayer Zone that used to be a Galaxian 3 and the game is so boring that I've seen people who paid to play it, walk out not even five minutes into playing it. It's like they don't even play test the games before they release them. It's horrible when most arcade are filled with their games, I pretty much stopped going to Dave and Busters because all of the new games are garbage.

Hit me up on the general PSCVideos at Gmail.com if you wanna chat some more.
