House of The Dead 4 (Classic)

I should have posted this yesterday for Halloween, but since 2600 has been bogged down by work I've decided to write up today's post for Monday with a classic video. This is a video from a few years ago of Sega's House of The Dead 4. As I said in the beginning we got A LOT of flack from this video when we posted it to Youtube. I still can not believe the amount of fans that this game has, and we weren't even really doing an all out bash on the game either!

I've played House of The Dead since the series came out in 1996. I'm even a proud owner of the cult hit, Typing of The Dead on the Sega Dreamcast (I WILL do a review of that one!) but for some reason HotD4 left me wanting more. I didn't like the new gun and how the zombies just burst into flames rather then being able to shoot off limbs and heads like in previous versions of the game. Also the bosses were REALLY cheap this time. They have very small weak points that you have to hit and if your not pixel perfect you loose a life, it's basically a way to keep you pumping money into the machine. Personally I'm more of a fan of House of The Dead: Overkill, but since that game's a Wii exclusive I won't be doing a review of it anytime soon. But I would have loved to see that game given an arcade release.

Well, until next time, have a good one and we'll be back with more videos, articles and more!

Virtua Tennis 3 and Dave & Busters Tour

This week's classic video is a twofer. This is the very first walkthrough tour of the Dave and Busters in Islandia New York with a special bonus video. I had taped the guys playing a round of the then newly released Virtua Tennis 3 and for some reason never uploaded it to Youtube. So I spliced it on at the end of the video for you to enjoy!

(My PC's still being fussy. I cleaned out the entire thing with a can of air duster and got a lot of dirt and dust out but the the display keeps shutting off on me. As I'm writing this it seems to be alright, but I'm not sure if it'll just kick off in another half an hour or so.)

In some unrelated news, I will be attending the New York Comic Con next weekend. My first stop will be the Capcom booth to check out Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. I'm taking my camera and audio recorder so be on the lookout for some stuff from the NYCC in two weeks.

Flashbacks Seaside Heights New Jersey (2007)

This week's Classic Video takes us back to the year 2007 when we visited one of our favorite arcades, Flashbacks in Seaside Heights New Jersey! Sadly this video is way out of date. Since we've recorded this video they have expanded the arcade with even more 80's and some 90's arcade games. Flashbacks has a great selection of pinball tables too, including the largest pinball machine ever made, Atari's Hercules! We plan on revisiting them soon to see how the expansion went, so stay tuned!

China Town Fair (2007)

Here's my video of New York City's own China Town Fair back from 2007. We did this video right after the "Play Value" Death of the Arcades episode. We hope to get an updated tour of CTF very soon with the upcoming release of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition

Speaking of the Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV, it was confirmed tonight that indeed Yun and Yang are in the game. Reno from VersusCity.com was at the location test and broke then news and has been posting on his Twitter account. He also said that Juri can now "combo naturally" with her fireballs and that Hakkan can now stack his "Oil Shower" and also has a quick follow up kick afterward. As always, this is a location test, so we'll have to wait a few months for the game to finally be released in arcades to see what changes Capcom has done, and as always I'll let you know when I hear it.

Sports Plus

This set of videos is of the final weekend of the arcade Sports Plus in Lake Grove Long Island. It was the biggest arcade at the time and always had a good selection of games. But sadly due to a bunch of different owners the place dipped down and people stopped going.

Otakon 2007 Game Room

Since this weekend was Otakon in Baltimore Maryland, I thought I'd take a look back at the video I took of the game room back in 2007. Otakon's Game Room is legendary. Its bigger then the dealers room at our local "I-Con" convention on Long Island and has just about every game you can think of. From Bemani, Fighters, Racers and SHMUPS, Otakon has something for everybody. Many people go to the convention just for the game room. They'll have a line of people outside of the door on Friday morning waiting for the doors to open in the afternoon, and the rush to get inside is crazy. "NO RUNNING!! NO RUNNING!!!" So take a look back at Otakon's Game Room from 2007.

The "Sega 3"

This Classic Video is what I like to call, "The Sega 3". This is a collection of videos taken during the first Funspot trip we took back in 2007. It includes videos of the Hang-On, Afterburner and Outrun machines on the first floor of Funspot. These videos got very popular on Youtube and got many views from people outside of the US that have probably not seen these games in years. The first floor is always one of my favorite places of Funspot. With these three classic Sega games, both Daytona USA games and a kick ass air hockey section, it's one of the first places I go to.

So enjoy this weeks Classic Video and we'll be back with another one next week!

(I will post news of Saturday Afternoon's Capcom and Namco Comic Con Panels tomorrow as I hear them)

Space Harrier (2007 Review)

This week's Classic Video is of Sega's classic Space Harrier arcade game. As I said in the video this was one of our most viewed videos on YouTube before we interviewed James Rolfe. Since I recorded the into before the last Funspot tournament, I'd like to say a big congrats to the couple that got engaged up at Funspot. They were a big factor in getting the game fixed. Tim AKA Jumble Junkie was really happy to finally be able to play it after two long years of the game not working.

I've also included another never before seen video that we shot, but never got uploaded, of the bonus round of Space Harrier. You hop on the back of a furry dragon..thing hence the "Neverending Story" song from me, and you have to fly into trees and rocks for extra points. So enjoy today's video and we'll have another one for you next week!

The First Funspot Video

We're kicking off the Classic Videos on the site with the very first video I ever shot. This was back in 2007 when we first visited Funspot in Weirs Beach New Hampshire. As I've said before, we decided on visiting after we read an article in Retro Gamer magazine. This was a year before the release of The King of Kong. As I said in the into, sorry for the quick camera movements. I didn't know you had to be slow so many of the early videos are tough to watch. So other then that, enjoy! We'll be doing one Classic Video a week, so keep checking back to see which one it will be!
