Disney Quest Part 3: Afterthoughts

Hey folks, here's the final Disney Quest video and it's my thoughts of the place and some of the games I played. I'm going to do two final videos with my thoughts of all of the Disney parks and also of the games I played while I was on vacation.

I know a lot of this video came off as a blast against Global VR's games, but that's just how I feel. You can't compare games like Twisted Stunt Racing, Justice League Heroes United and Star Wars Episode 1 Star Fighter to games that are 20 years older and play more fun.

According to the Disney Quest website an adult pass is 43 dollars. For that price I want everything to work and not for them to cut out the video of the Genie from Aladdin on the elevator. 

Disney Quest Walkthrough Part 2

Here's part two of my Disney Quest videos. Today we're checking out floor four and floor five.

The fourth floor has a mix of music games, air hockey and games for the kids. I was REALLY surprised to see they had a Trog machine. I haven't played that game in years. It's a great family friendly game. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the NES port. I rented it and played the hell out of it when I was a kid. Tetris Giant I was very happy to see. It's easy to get used to the GIANT joystick, but trying to play a game of Tetris where the pieces are bigger then usual takes some getting used too. I played it for a good while and got in the top 30. One of our subscribers on YouTube mentioned the lack of fighting games, which honestly I'm surprised they still had them. The 3rd floor where they had all of the racing games used to be where all of the fighting games used to be. The Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was still kicking as well as the Soul Cali 3. One of the things I forgot to mention in the next video review of DQ was even though they have a lot of Ultracades, they seem to lack any fighting games, even though they have a classic Capcom six button layout. I wouldn't be shocked to see them remove the fighting games in a few years.

Floor five is where most of the classics and now the pinball live. The pins used to be on the third floor near the Might Ducks Pinball Slam game, but now they have their own section on the top floor. It's nice that they have them spaced out so you don't have people bumping into you on the tables next to you. Unfortunately all of the machines need a lot of work. You can chock that up to the games being set to free play since their ALWAYS being used, so it'd be next to impossible to have all of the games running at 100%. Even the Tron: Legacy while being the newest game had tons of issues. Batman and Pirates were near unplayable. Rolling Stones, CSI and Iron Man ran alright and their Spider-Man was really iffy too.

Disney Quest Walkthrough Part 1

This week I'll have three videos from my Disney vacation all about Disney Quest. Today we're checking out the third floor as well as the outside and Disney Quest's new neighbor that will opening up in Fall 2012, Splitsville. Splitsville is a high class looking bowing ally that serves up gourmet food along with a dance hall and bowling. One of the posters on the barricades had a picture of a filet mignon being served up on a plate with baby greens and in the background, people bowling. I'd love to see the looks on people's faces when they see how much they charge per games. I thought the ally by me upped their prices.

Well, today I'm on the third floor of Disney Quest. While they have an amazing selection of games be warned, it's not all sunshine and rainbows there. Some of the games need a lot of work and a lot of their major attractions don't work as well when the arcade first opened. Tomorrow I'll be showing off floors four and five and Friday I will have another "Talking Head Commentary" of my review of Disney Quest. Tomorrowland Light & Power Co

Hey folks, Nick back with the arcade in The Magic Kingdom, it's the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co arcade! In recent year's they've downsized the arcade to have more room for the gift shop. They still offer a good selection of games that range from 50 cents to two bucks a play. Sadly they have gotten rid of Konami's Solar Assault and Sega's Moto Raid. For some reason this arcade also had Sega's Funky Head Boxers, it was a weird and terrible game that I only saw there. Wish I could have gotten a video of that one.

Lafferty Place at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club

Hey folks, Nick back once again with part two of my Walt Disney World arcade tours. Today I'm checking out the arcade from the Yacht and Beach Club, Lafferty Place. I remember this arcade since we stayed at the Yacht and Beach the first year they opened. Back then they used to have a lot more games and pins. Of course back then it was all about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and we played the hell out of it there as well as pretty much every Disney resort arcade. The arcade now has a good mix of games. I still don't know why they have so many games like Super Money Ball Ticket Blitz when they don't have a prize counter. Seems stupid to play a game to win tickets when you can't turn them in for prizes. Also, since I didn't say it on the video, the Pirates of The Caribbean machine had weak flippers and the spinning time lock did not work. Other then that all of the machines I played were in good working order. 

As I say in the video there used to be a door that connected to the Beaches and Cream restaurant that I wish I could have gotten a video of. Since my family and I were going to the Beach Club side for breakfast they didn't open for a few hours. It's a really cool 50's style cafe that serves burgers, shakes and of course ice cream. They have a sundae called "The Kitchen Sink" which is pretty self explanatory. If you and your party can finish the sundae, you'll get a pin that is sought after by Disney Pin Collectors. The pin collecting stuff is crazy, what pisses me off is that they only had two pins for Tron left. The bulk of them came out when the movie did and all the collectors gobble them up and I won't pay top to dollar for a lapel pin.

Brooklyn Pinball Championships

Hey everybody. Nick here with the video I shot at the Brooklyn Pinball Championships. As I said before, the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn gets it when it comes to adding brews and games. The Satellite Lounge has eight great tables I was able to get footage of almost all of them. For some reason the video I shot of Monster Bash was corrupt, so sadly I couldn't put the footage I shot in the video, but the rest of the games are there.

I would like to thank Steve Bowden for his extra pinball music links. Trying to find music from 90's Williams games has been a chore. I don't want to have the same music every time I go to a pinball related event, so these will help out!

Nick and Chris Visit Castle Video!

As you may have saw from a few weeks ago I had discovered on Funwithbonus.com that one of our favorite places, Castle Video in New Jersey would be closing down. Captain Kirk was going through hard times when we visited the second time but I thought everything was behind him, but I guess he just couldn't make ends meet.

So lets go back to this past Thursday. I had just finished work and I logged into Facebook. I got a message from Chris Bucci who if you don't know has an excellent collection of Turbo Grafx 16 and Pinball videos asked me a question. He wanted to see if I wanted to join him on a trip to Castle Video because he had never been there before and he wanted to see it before it closed. So I instantly said yes, hopped on the train and met him in the city and we were off. This video is some of the highlights of our the games we played for five hours and a tour of what you can still play.

You can't really see it on my camera but there's little post-it-notes on the machines with price tags. Most of the games have been sold and others are still up for sale. I would like to say to anybody that has gotten the games from Kirk to take good care of them. Chris really knows his stuff when it comes to pinball and he and I agree that Kirk kept his machines in amazing shape and they should be worthy in anybody's collection.

Arcade Hunters Episode 11: Richie Knucklez

Here is a brand new Arcade Hunters Episode that was shot at Richie Knucklez in Flemington, NJ. Richie Knucklez runs a great arcade showroom. His restorations are immaculate. Richie also turns his showroom every Friday into a classic arcade for a weekly event he calls "Flashback Fridays." 10 bucks, all you can play from 6-10pm. Be sure to check out part 2 for the conclusion.

We are still working out the kinks with our new editing software and the Blip player. All I can say so far is that it's been a smooth transition (20 hours of reading, researching, and watching tutorials as well as playing around with the software) and just after 1 video I feel at home with Final Cut. Be sure to comment on how you feel the video turned out and sorry about splitting the video up. The original plan was to keep it as one, but due to lengthy conversion and exporting times, doing two saved a plethora of time. Arcade Hunters Episode 10: 8 on the Break Revisited

Good arcades are always changing. These changes can vary from making repairs and maintaining the current games to adding new games. 8 on the Break of course is no exception. They are constantly keeping up on their machines, as well as getting new machines. 8 on the Break also cycles in games periodically . They do this especially with their pinball corner. This helps keeps every visit to 8 on the Break both fresh and exciting because you never know what surprises they might have.

Arcade Hunters Episode 8 Part 3: Winnipesaukee Pier

The final part of our trip takes us to the final arcade, The Winnipesaukee Pier. The pier arcade has the usual selection of current racing games, ticket games and some classic games and pinball. Sorry we were in a bit of a rush to get to the drive in to see The Dark Knight. We didn't want to take a video camera into the concession stand to show off some of the arcade games they have, so we weren't able to get the monstrosity of a Baby Pac-Man that had the pinball playfield ripped out, replaced with a small screen running The Combatribes.

As you can see in the preview screen, the games at all three arcades are lacking. Since we've been going the games have been getting worse and worse. They do this new thing that we've been seeing at arcades. If a game has something wrong with it, they just leave the game on to get any lucky quarters they can, rather then putting up an out of order sign and fixing the problem. 2600 really hates the Attack from Mars machine, because he's gotten the ball stuck in the right out lane and even picked the machine up and shook it to get the ball loose and the thing wouldn't budge. But when he returned to the game not even twenty minutes later the ball vanished out of the lane and was back up and running. If they have the money to buy new games like Guitar Hero, I think they could spend a little time fixing a problem that could keep the game making more money. Lord knows we've put a small fortune into Pinball machines over the years.

Now, the fun doesn't end here. We've got another episode... well half an episode. I wouldn't really call it an arcade, but we were shocked as hell to see it. And you'll see what we're talking about soon. As well as another video we shot the same day as the Rambo Arcade video! So stay tuned! Arcade Hunters Episode 8 Part 2 Half Moon

Here's part two of our epic three part episode of the arcades of Weirs Beach New Hampshire. Today we check out the arcade right next door to the Penny Arcade and that's the Half Moon. The Half Moon has a huge selection of games to choose from, classic Penny Arcade style games, shooting galleries and even some of the newer racers that have come out in the past few years. The pinballs are a bit hit and miss, some play well and others have problems that make them unplayable. I was sad that X-Men wasn't working because I wanted to get my Nightcrawler on. 2600's still under the weather, so I'm not sure when the final part of the video will be out, but be on the lookout for it.

I just got in an EasyCap for Christmas and I've been toying around with it. I'm a little miffed by it. I tried plugging in my S-Video cable from my 360 and the picture came in black and white, but I just recorded Viewtiful Joe and Elevator Action Old and New on my Cube and it worked. I'm posting test videos on Youtube as well as blip and if you've got any info to point me in the right direction, just drop a comment on the video or here in the post.

Arcade Hunters Episode 8 Part 1: Penny Arcade

Yes! Finally! We're back with an epic three part adventure! It's been a long time. Computers have crashed, files have been lost, but the soul still burns. Episode eight of Arcade Hunters takes you into the Wayback Machine back to last summer when we visited the other three arcades on the Weirs Beach New Hampshire boardwalk. The first time we visited Weirs Beach was in January, so naturally they weren't open, but make sure you go in the summer to check them out. This first episode takes us to The Penny Arcade. That's it, just Penny Arcade. A nice selection of stuff, from pinball, ticket games and classic and new school games all for you in one place.

2600 has been under the weather this week, so thankfully he was able to put the finishing touches on the video. We should also be recording another episode of Gabbin' with The Arcade Hunters tomorrow night, so hopefully we'll find a real solution to our podcasting problems, rather then just hosting it on Blip.

I've been busy this week playing lots and lots of Cave's latest work Mushihime-sama Futari. I ended up ordering from Play Asia and the game took much longer to get here then usual. Our good friend Brian from Substance TV finally got his copy today after waiting three weeks. All I can say is, holy &#$*! What an awesome time, it took a while but it was well worth the wait. Thank you so much to the people over at Cave that decided on taking out the Region Encoding on the game so everybody can finally enjoy the game. Now I know you might be thinking "Oh that game..the one with the purple bullets that fill the screen!? No thanks!" Well, think again. Cave has included so many different modes, everybody can enjoy the game. If the game's too tough for you, just go to Arrange and try out the Novice setting. It makes the game really easy, but it gives you a good idea what to expect with faster enemies and more bullets. Thankfully I didn't download the Black Label add on because I've heard people are having freezing issues.
