Retro Arcade Museum In Danger

Hey everybody, we're going to have a very busy week with all of the stuff we did at Richie Knuckles but I wanted to touch base on something I read about when I got home on Sunday. This video from CNN will tell you the tale of what's going on.

I had heard about the Retro Arcade Museum in Beacon NY a few months ago. Unlike Funspot's Arcade Museum that only offers games from the 70's to 87, the museum in Beacon offers games from the 50's to the 70's. This video from Youtube shows off what they had when they first opened.

As you can see in the video above the arcade has a lot of great electromechanical games that are rarely seen. While many people in the town support the arcade somebody is trying to cling to an old law that forbids pinball machines. As you saw from the CNN video, pinball was banned in many cities across America because they deemed it to be gambling and would corrupt American youth, like that damn Rock n' Roll music!

It's a real shame that this is happening to them. I had suggested checking this place out for an Arcade Hunters episode in the future, but if the town gets their way we might not be able to go at all. We're going to keep you posted on any news that happens. Till then check out a write up about this from our friend's over at Arcade Heroes and also our good friend Jeri Ellsworth has found a link to the Town of Beacon's website where you can send an email or call them to voice your support for the museum.
