Lets Look at Some Star Wars Arcade Games!

While I sit back, sipping a Yub Nub cocktail, watching the first Ewok's movie, I figured why not make a post that includes all of the different Star Wars arcade games we have recorded? Click on the jump break below for the videos and May the 4th be with you!

Star Wars Environmental Arcade Game (Atari 1983)

What else can be said about the original Star Wars arcade game? The game is a true classic in every sense. Between the vector graphics, music, and the speech, this game is a nostalgia overload. If you ever got to play the game when it originally came out (especially the environmental cabinet), you most likely felt the complete immersion feeling that people get now with virtual reality. Playing the game really felt like you were in the movie.

Star Wars Battle Pod Premium Edition (Bandai Namco Games 2015)

Another Star Wars game that went for immersion. This time a dome screen was used to present the game while force feedback technology was used to make the seat and joystick vibrate. Add air bursts and 5.1 surround sound and you end up with a unique experience (and possibly motion sickness).

Star Wars Pinball 20th Anniversary Edition (Data East 1992 / Stern Pinball 2012)

This one will take a bit of explaining. Data East originally released their Star Wars pinball back in 1992. In December of 2012, Stern Pinball put out a press release about a new ROM update for the Data East Star Wars pinball machine. Chad Hendrickson and other members of the pinball community designed this ROM revision to honor the passing of the game's original programmer, Neil Falconer who passed away in 2012. This version has been dubbed the 20th anniversary edition.
