Donkey Kong Has A New King

I know 2600 is going to kill me because he worked really hard on the Pang Pang Paradise video, but this is news that doesn't break often. Today it was announced that the current world record in Donkey Kong has been shattered!

35 year old plastic surgeon Hank Chien from New York City is now the world record holder in Donkey Kong! Hank said he was inspired from watching The King of Kong and practiced on MAME. Then he finally went and got his own machine that can barley fit in his apartment. Hank now holds the worlds record at 1,061,700 points beating Billy Mitchel's score of 1,050,200.

Twin Galaxies has an interview with Hank up on their site as well as another inteview from Examiner.com

We here at Arcade Hunters would like to congratulate Hank of his amazing accomplishment. I really hope he can make it to FunSpot this year so we can see the new king in action. But what I really want to see is an epic three way dance to see who the best is. Let's get Hank, Billy and Steve together and have them all play DK at the same time and see who's the best!

  1. The score that Hank Chien got is incorrect in this article. It was 1,061,700 not 1,037,700

  3. Thanks, sorry about that. Got a bit dyslexic with the numbers. The number is correct now.
