Hershey Park's Minetown Arcade: First Impressions

Hey folks, if you watched the last video I did of the June Pinball Arcade update you may have heard I was going somewhere. Well, last weekend my family and I visited Hershey Park! One of the things I love about Hershey Park is their "Preview Pass". If you show up at the park three hours before they close you can ask to do the preview. You pay full price, but they will let you in the park till it closes, then you can come back all of the next day, so it's like a pass and a half.

This video is more of a first impression video. I got to the arcade around twenty minutes before the park closed so I wasn't able to play anything to give my full thoughts. So be sure to stay tuned because I took another video the next day with my thoughts and without the super loud background music too!

The Pinball Arcade: June Update

Hey folks! Just a few days ago the June update for The Pinball Arcade hit the Apple App Store so here I am with the video look at Gorgar and Monster Bash. The Pinball Arcade is going to be Apple's App of The Week soon so if you don't have the game yet be sure to look for it.

I still want to issue a complaint with the game. If you look now on the App Store you'll see there's a free version and a 99 cent version that gives you Tales of The Arabian Nights. When I downloaded the game the night it came out on the App Store the 99 cent version wasn't an option, just the free version. For some reason you can not share the table downloads between the versions of the game. So while I've paid for every table that's come out it's only on the "Free Version" and not the actual paid version. A few days ago the Farsight team was saying Apple wanted them to drop the free version to lessen confusion which means they might drop support on the free version. I really hope somebody from Farsight is reading this. I have nothing but the utmost respect and wish you guys the best, but I will not download all of the tables again just so I can have access to the Facebook leaderboards. Please considered combining the apps together so everybody can use the tables that they paid for.

Thanks and Pickups!

I just wanted to throw this video together really quick because today in the mail I got two shirts from my friend Welby and I wanted to show them off with the Bubble Bobble marquee I got at a sale and also a box of 3DO games I got from my friend J.M! Thanks for all your support!

Stay tuned for the June update of The Pinball Arcade and this weekend I'll be getting some more video! So stay tuned!

Only one hour left! Help support Farsight!

Less then one hour remains on Farsight's Kickstarter drive to help bring The Twilight Zone and Star Trek The Next Generation to The Pinball Arcade! A 10 dollar donation will get you The Twilight Zone on your platform of choice, if they can somehow get up to 110,000 dollars they'll get TNG as well. If they don't the money raised will go to fund future games, so be sure to give today!

Atari's 4 Player Football with Johnny D and Roo

One of the things I noticed when I first got to FunSpot on Wednesday night was that they fixed the Atari 4 Player Football game. It's been in the arcade for a while now but it never worked. Finally the game was up and running in all of it's black and white X's and O's glory. On Sunday Johnny D and Roo took a break from filming their stuff for Retroware and started playing, lucky for us I was there with my iPod Touch at the ready.

As you can see games on this get very hectic spinning the trackball in order to score a touchdown. Roo even got his arm pinched in the trackball. Ouch! Football injury! I just keep going back to the comment one of the "experts" made on Play Value when she said, "How can you do a sports game in the arcade, that's like impossible!" Well here you go, from 1979. Atari figured it out.

I wanna give a big thanks to Johnny D and Roo for letting me film them and be sure to check out all their stuff on RetrowareTV.com. Also another big thanks to Tom for getting the final shot of Roo's "football injury"!

I'm going to be uploading the videos that are already on YouTube onto Blip very soon, so stay tuned for those on Blip if you haven't seen them on the YouTube channel yet. I also finished up all four floor tour videos that I took in HD with the newer camera (with the light!) so be sure to subscribe and keep checking back for more videos!

Retro Pinball's King of Diamonds

So on Wednesday night at FunSpot, I took a break from all the hustle and bustle on the 3rd floor of ACAM and decided to head down to the second floor for some much needed pinball and Outrun. When I went down I saw in the corner of the arcade was a pinball machine. Not just any pinball machine, but a new machine made to look and play just like the ones from way back when. It was Retro Pinball's King of Diamonds!

Retro Pinball is a new company that started in 2007 and they were able to secure the rights from Gottlieb to remake the game. This is one of only 100 units being produced. While the date on the game says 2009 it just came out this year. So it's been a while for them to get this game out. This machine in the video has a funny story to it. The team at Retro Pinball took this unit to PAX East for a panel on pinball they did along with the ACAM staff. During the convention they got a call saying one of their wive's started going into labor so they had to rush off and basically FunSpot is taking care of the machine till the team can come and pick the game up in the summer. So be sure to stop on by FunSpot soon because it won't be there.

Big thanks to Tim AKA Jumblejunkie for playing a game of it so I could show the score reels in action and also to Brent over at Extended Play Arcade for linking the video on their site today! For all of you coming from there, welcome! Hope you check out more of our tour videos and game reviews!

Make it so! Bring Star Trek TNG to The Pinball Arcade!

Last month when I posted my video of the May update of the Pinball Arcade I mentioned that Farsight was setting up a Kickstarter program to help raise the money to bring The Twilight Zone to the app. The team was able to meet their goal of 55,000 dollars and now their looking to raise another 55,000 dollars to get the rights to publish Steve Ritchie's Star Trek: The Next Generation to the Pinball Arcade. As I type this their at 71,000 dollars. The problem is there's only one week to go in order to raise the rest of the money they need.

They say if they can raise the 110,000 now that when you donate you'll be able to get The Twilight Zone and Star Trek when their finished. If not their going to pool the money and start yet another Kickstarter to get the rest they need for TNG. So help them out now so they don't need to do a second one!

There's multiple levels in which you can donate. 10 dollars will get the tables on your platform of choice, even the Xbox 360 which they were able to work out with Microsoft. You can also get shirts, special edition versions of the tables and for the high rollers, lunch with the Farsight staff and early access to their upcoming projects. So if you'd like to help out by getting both of these classic tables into the hands of fans everywhere make sure you check out the Kickstarter page and donate today! Remember, there's only SEVEN days left! Make it so! Captain's orders! ;D

Stern's X-Men

For a while now it seemed like that Stern's game after Transformers and ACDC would have been The Avengers. In all of the "Behind the Scenes" videos you'll see tons of Avengers related photos hanging on people's wall from a bad cosplay photo of Thor to a picture of Scarlet Johamsson as the Black Widow. Well, while we were at FunSpot, Stern dropped the news that they'd be doing a game based off of the X-Men. For once it's based off of the comic book and not the movie series. Which I like since it'll make it more timeless.

Since I don't feel like cropping the pictures of the two different versions I'll just throw the link below so you can check them out four yourself from Pinball News. They've gone ahead and posted all the photos and the checklists of what's in each version.

Stern's X-Men from Pinball News

As with all tables a lot of first impressions are rushing in. A lot of people are saying it's Tron in reverse and others on Pinball News are saying it looks a lot like Gottlieb's Stargate. I see that, but it's been a while since I played Stargate. Just as long as the announcer doesn't repeat "Shoot the sarcophagus" every five seconds.

I'll wait and see as always. I've yet to play ACDC but honestly I'm really looking forward to seeing what Jersey Jack is doing with Wizard of Oz. Jersey Jack surprised everybody this week by attending this year's E3 with one of their prototype machines. The reactions from the attendees seems very positive, even Pat the NES Punk and Roo from Retroware TV gave it high praise. I can't wait to try it out when Jon gets it at the skate shop.

What do you folks think? Who will reign supreme in this new pinball battle? Drop a comment below!

Al's Garage Band Goes on a World Tour!

Here's a really special video for you guys and gals today. As always the guys at ACAM set up a "Mystery Game of the Day" tournament during all four days of the tournament. So as a surprise they decided on having pinball as the mystery games for the 14th Annual Tournament. Thursday saw Joker Poker, Saturday was Close Encounters of The Third Kind, Sunday was Retro Pinball's King of Diamonds (Video coming soon!) but on Saturday our friend Scott surprised everybody by bringing in "Al's Garage Band Goes on a World Tour." Only 1000 units of this machine were every produced in the early 90's and for many people it was the very first time playing the game. Even Sara from The Pinball Wizard's Arcade was impressed by it.

Big thanks to Scott for letting everybody try out the game as well as letting me take some video of the machine with the glass removed and for also showing me the inside of the cab to see how the game's "Bump Buttons" work.

Life Force at ACAM!

One of our subscribers asked me if I could get a video of Konami's Life Force that was just recently added into ACAM so here it is! Our good friend JC was nice enough to let me tape over his shoulder while he played. Sorry in advance for the very loud "Space Encounters" that was going off in the background. We were able to get them to turn the sound up on Life Force, but Space Encounters was still one of the loudest games in the tournament. (A lot of fun though)

Stay tuned, because coming up we've got an extended look at "Al's Garage Band Goes on a World Tour!"
